During our 20 years experience we have recognized that the development of the public sector and the strengthening of good governance were critical to ensure social and economic development in the countries in which we have been operating. These links are now widely recognized and show how governance directly influences development.
For that purpose - after a two year preparatory period - in 2001 we developed a new business line initially focused on the public administration reform process in South Eastern Europe and subsequently extended, both conceptually and geographically Eurecna is now one of the key players in the Western Balkans involved in the process of strengthening the public sector in relation to the European Integration process – mainly through large, EC funded technical assistance projects. We try to combine innovative approaches with the local social, economic and administrative heritage, offering a set of best practices not only from the EU, but also from the WB region and the new EU Member States. Both positive but also negative outcomes from these 12 countries are essential nowadays for the proper orientation of the European Integration process in South Eastern Europe.
In addition to the afore-mentioned region we are active world-wide (Africa, Central & Latin America, Caucasus, etc.) focusing on legal advice, institution building activities at governmental level related not only to public administration reform, but also to public finance, civil service reform, decentralisation, human rights and economic and social development issues. In short we support the development of rules, processes and behaviour by which legitimate interests are articulated, resources are openly managed, and power is adequately exercised.
